Introduction
千葉県生まれ。第26期 世界銀行奨学生に選出され、英オックスフォード大学大学院 環境変動研究所（ECI）にて博士課程（熱帯林生態学）修了。英語・スペイン語 🇪🇦・ポルトガル語 🇧🇷を話す。
5歳からのボーイスカウト入団を機に自然保護に関心を持つ。学生時代にはフィリピンで農村女性グループ支援のためのNGO活動に取り組む。大学卒業後は北欧デンマークの国際NGOスタッフとして6年間勤め、その間アフリカ南部のナミビア、米国、ブラジルで植林・環境教育に携わる。その後、英ロンドン大学（UCL）大学院にて自然保全修士号を取得し、国連環境計画（UNEP-WCMC）、ブラジル国立宇宙研究所（INPE）、マレーシア領ボルネオの英国王立協会研究プログラムにて熱帯林の調査研究に関わる。国際協力機構（JICA）地球環境部 森林・自然環境グループ ジュニア専門員を経て、中米ホンジュラスの生物多様性保全プロジェクトにJICA専門家として派遣される。
将来国際協力を目指す現役学生たちからキャリア相談を受けるうちに、情報発信と経験の共有の必要性を痛感する。また日本には環境・国際協力を専門に扱うWEBメディアが少ないことに危機感を覚え、これまで世界各地で一緒に仕事をしてきた世界21国籍（欧州・中南米・アジア・アフリカ）に及ぶ大切な57人の仲間たちを募り、2020年9月に当WEBマガジンOxForest.orgおよび.jpをスタートさせた。今はWEBマガジンを通じて、SDGsに取り組む様々な業界の人と人とを繋げるネットワーキングに関心が高い。
尊敬する人物はワンガリ・マータイ博士とグレタ・トゥーンベリさん 🇸🇪！いつかグレタさんに当WEBマガジンの推薦文を書いてもらえないか密かに期待している🤭。座右の銘はロサンゼルス オリンピック金メダリストが語った『人生は「夢を見」「夢を追い」「夢を喰う」そして「夢を託す」ですね。』、当の本人はまだ「夢を追い」かけている道半ば。
これまで世界五大陸27ヶ国へ渡航。最近ハマっていることは料理（インスタグラム@TakeshisKitchen）にヨガ🧘♂️、そしてラ・リーガで活躍する久保建英選手！
Born in Japan. I am quadrilingual in Japanese, English, Spanish 🇪🇦 and Portuguese 🇧🇷. After being selected as a World Bank scholar, I completed a PhD in tropical forest ecology at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI), University of Oxford, supervised by Prof Yadvinder Malhi.
My passion for nature conservation began after joining the Boy Scouts at the age of five. While in college, I volunteered for the first time in the Philippines to help organise a women’s support group. After serving at Danish NGO’s forestry and environmental education projects in Brazil, the United States and Namibia over six years, I recieved an MSc in Conservation from the University College London (UCL) and undertook tropical forest research at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP-WCMC), Brazilian National Institute of Space Research (INPE) and a Britain Royal Society research programme in Malaysian Borneo. Following my associate expert role at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Forestry and Nature Conservation Group in Tokyo, I worked for JICA’s biodiversity conservation project in Honduras.
My best role models are Prof Wangari Maathai and Greta Thunberg (Fridays For Future) who have inspired me to take action against deforestation and climate change, and to get the message across to a wider audience. In September 2020, I launched a web magazine “OxForest.org” along with 57 irreplaceable friends of mine across 21 nationalities (from Europe, Latin America, Africa to Asia) who have worked together for the same cause.
I have been to 27 countries so far. My recent interests are cooking (Instagram @TakeshisKitchen) and yoga!
